Description
Class 91 number 91112 seen from the aerdynamically designed "sharp end". The DVT 82s do look very similar to these locomotives though with several fundemental differences.
Responding to a comment by who said it reminded him of the German ICE1/ICE2, just with an extra cab. Which this could be adequately described, as it's original design included such factors as 140mph/225kph top speed in either push or pull mode, and tilting geometery. The equipment for tilting was never actually fitted, and soon after introduction into service the trainsets were limited to 125mph/200kph due to signalling restrictions on the ECML. Though this didn't stop an example of the Class 91, previously number 91010 now 91110, from becoming the fastest electric locomotive in the UK, with a speed of 162mph/261kph attained whilst descending Stoke Bank, the same place where "Mallard", LNER A4 number 4468 broke the world speed record of steam locomotives with a speed of 125mph.
