Description
- Part 1
She was the princess of the night.
I see the writings on the wall
Following our return to Bolton to drop off ~matt-durkan-railways, myself and *irwingcommand then learned via my Facebook feeds that another friend of ours was going to Cherry Tree to see her. It transpired we could also make it in time, so we opened the taps a little bit.
In the end, she was over an hour late due to difficulties north of Blackburn. A DMU requiring assistance was reported to be struggling up Langho incline, meaning 6201 was held right at the foot of it until the DMU cleared the section at Blackburn. what followed was near enough a mile of hand sanding of the track to get 6201 from a standing start up the incline.
She made it, but as you can see, she was a little breathless. And thirsty.
LMS Princess Royal Class 7P 4.6.2 number 6201 "Princess Elizabeth" opens up the drain cocks and ejects steam from her safety valves after completing a water stop at Cherry Tree station near Blackburn, Lancashire, working the return run of The Cumbrian Mountaineer on November 17th 2012.
It's over. This is how we say goodbye.
... or is it?
If I ever had my way.
I'd bring the princess back one day
Saxon - Princess Of The Night.
Happy birthday
