Description

It's with thanks to a man named Andy Patten from Railtalk magazine that I'm able to bring you the following shots that were lost with my HDD failiure. As he keeps everything on file, he simply sent me the images I needed back, many thanks to Andy for your help. :D

I was gutted I lost this, however I'm now ecstatic that I've got it back. As mentioned in the previous submission 48151 on the Fellsman tour on Wednesday 2nd June 2010 had just crossed this viaduct, Ribblehead viaduct. Built between 1870 and 1874, it stands at 104ft/32m high and spans 440yds/402m. It;s the longest viaduct on the Settle and Carlisle line, a railway that was very nearly closed in the 1980s citing reasons that Ribblehead was unsafe and too expensive to repair. The line was singled across the viaduct as a partial solution, although the line was never closed, and the viaduct remains in use to this day. It is Grade II listed and a Scheduled Monument, meaning it is protected against any unauthorised change.

Here 48151 crosses Ribblehead viaduct slowly adhering to the speed limit enforced on the structure, whilst walkers on the Yorkshire Dales looked on and waved. :)

Ah yes, dignity for these English steamers...

(I thought for sure nothing else is more dignified compared to either these, or them American steam locomotives out there, though...)
