We Dream Of Making Our Escape

I ran so far away.
Left before the lights came on.
Travelled on my own to the borders of belief.
To where the darkness shone.
Here the thunder is sublime.
The electric horses pass overhead.
The diesel tastes like sweet chocolate.
All wrapped up in traffic red.
Yet all is unseen from my temporary dwelling.
As the wheels roll and flanges squeal.
I sit here wondering where you are miles away.
And wonder if you know just exactly how I feel.
The street is quiet, and the darkness is broken.
I once was blind but now I see.
Those footsteps stop right before my eyes.
And now I feel so free.

Yet this cannot last and still I spy.
The rain clouds gathering in the clear blue sky.
Let this last and us go on forever.
For better for worse, for worse for better.
Following up on a challenge set by :iconzcochrane:, regarding his deviation Dark at the end of the Tunnel. He claimed there are 'some photographers who are poetic and can find a deeper meaning than just the obvious subject to their pictures' and that 'one of them would be able to say something interesting about this reversal of the common saying about light at the end of the tunnel'. I commented back saying I liked a challenge, so I'd have a go, to which he said he 'looked forward to what I could come with...'

So here you go! A sort of half romantic, half dark piece I like to think of it as, with plenty of railway references in for good measure. What do you think? :)

Tremendously atmospheric.
