I nearly didn't make it, as the city centre was severely affected by a massive fire which not only redirected all traffic away from the very centre of town where I usually catch my bus, but also resulted in the death of a firefighter in the line of duty, and thanks to my family graciously paying my taxi fare home, I made it with just minutes to spare. My thoughts and prayers are extended to the family of the deceased firefighter, he/she died doing the job they loved, and gave their life so that others may be saved. Truly heroic.
