Description

This would be my first encounter with thoroughbred German rolling stock, and I would be coming face to face with a top line machine in terms of high speed rail in Europe.

The ICE3 is the third generation of the ICE (Inter City Express) trains built for DB from 2000, with earlier versions, the ICE1 and ICE2 being built in 1989 and 1995 respectively. The ICE3 can hit speeds of 198mph/320kph, and the version I saw in St Pancras was the ICE 3M, M meaning Multisystem denoting it can operate under all four of the main electrification systems in Europe.

Awesome. I heard one of the problems with this may not be the UK, but France, even today, to run a new rail service there they make you jump through way more hoops than the rest of the EU (and they've been dragging their feet on the whole "open access to competition" thing)
